Irving Greger Collection

Irving Greger was born in Brooklyn, New York. He married his wife Sally weeks before being inducted into Long Island’s Camp Upton in April 1942. Greger completed officer training school and entered the European battlefield on November 28, 1944. He served in the 2nd Armored Division in Germany during and after World War II. Discharged from the military in 1945, he earned a doctorate from Columbia Teachers College. He started his career at Baruch College in 1947. During his time at Baruch College, he was a member of the staff and faculty. His tenure at the college spanned the institutional incarnations of City College Downtown and Baruch College. Greger was incredibly devoted to the student body and the institution. He supervised student life programs like the Lamport Leaders and managed the school’s House Plan system. He created opportunities to motivate and train students to become leaders in the college and the world. Greger retired from Baruch College in 1986. He passed away on May 3, 2018.
