Biographical / Historical
Founded in the fall of 1998 by Professor Rosalyn Bernstein, the Sidney Harman Writer-in-Residence program invites distinguished writers to Baruch College each semester. These writers have included poets, playwrights, novelists, journalists and essayists. Entrepreneur and Baruch College alumnus Sidney Harman (’39) (1918-2011) funded the program, which offers workshops, classes and conferences with the visiting writers. The Harman program hosts guest readings and a weeklong residency. Additionally the program sponsors creative writing competitions and literary internships for students.
